LEADERBOARD-MOCK / DESIGN INDEX / 20 EXPLORATIONS

LEADERBOARD

Twenty parallel takes on the swamp.club leaderboard at /leaderboard — each one surfacing four windows on one population: ALL-TIME, SEASON (Tupelo League, day 67 of 90), WEEK, and TODAY. Same canonical dataset (_DATA.md) across every mockup so the designs can be compared apples-to-apples.

// goal: replace the single all-time ladder with four lenses on one population
// goal: resolve (or refuse) the tension between archaeology and the game
// goal: each design answers to a different subset of the five game designers

00 The Panel 5 / 5

// the five fictional designers each mockup answers to. read _REPORT.md for the synthesis.

Path of Exile Bex Halloran "If you can see it, you can chase it."
Diablo Marcus Steiner "The chase has to feel possible and hopeless at the same time."
RuneScape Hannah Westcott "You can't manufacture pride — it comes from years."
World of Warcraft Adrián Soto "The leaderboard is the game."
Satisfactory Lina Forsberg "The reward is the factory."

01 Poe.Ninja Tupelo PoE SEASON is the engine; ALL-TIME is the museum tab. Signature visual is a log-scale "Chase Map" plotting the top-50 as dots along tier-band ribbons so distance to the founders reads as a map, not a wall. Bex's inspectability throughout. chase-map log-scale population-pop 02 Loot Table Diablo Four windows as four drop rarities — TODAY white, WEEK blue, SEASON legendary-yellow centerstage with a 90-tick countdown ring, ALL-TIME mythic vault. Top ranks get an orange dopamine beam. Every entry feels like a card. dopamine-drop countdown-ring power-fantasy 03 Hiscores & Comp Cape RuneScape OSRS Hiscores layout — four fixed-width monospace ladders side by side, no glitz. The comp cape is the most-visible ornament. ALL-TIME widest because years stamp meaning. Retroactive policy stated in writing. hiscores comp-cape time-stamping 04 Armory & Parse Logs WoW Blizzard Armory crest + WarcraftLogs detail. CUTTING EDGE banner for season top-5. Playstyle-derived class colors (priest/warrior/mage/druid…). Signature visual: a Parse Phase Plot scatter of momentum × lifetime score. armory parse-chips class-color 05 The Factory Floor Satisfactory The protest design. "LEADERBOARD" struck through, "THE FACTORY FLOOR" written above. A gallery of artifacts; ranks demoted to an apologetic corner ribbon. The full table only appears at the bottom under "the ranking, if you really want it." anti-leaderboard artifact-gallery protest

06 League / Legacy PoE Diablo SEASON as the engine, ALL-TIME as the museum — with founders rendered as a magenta "skyline" silhouette overhead while the season's contenders climb beneath. Bex meets Marcus on what resets vs. what carries. resets-vs-paragon skyline-chart 07 Dossier Ladder PoE RuneScape Lifetime-primary. Each ALL-TIME row is a five-column dossier: identity, build, time, score, and a small S/W/D window strip. Signature visual: a scatter of active-days × lifetime-score with population percentile rails and Hannah's diagonal. dossier-rows scatter-plot 08 Parse.Ninja PoE WoW Spreadsheet maximalism. Five parallel subranks per operative (writer / shipper / ops / lab / streak), each with a WarcraftLogs-style parse chip. Signature visual: a 30×5 dot matrix where shape = specialist vs. generalist. spreadsheet parse-chips five-axes 09 Atelier Ladder PoE Satisfactory Each ranked row leads with the artifact (top extension or writing). Rank shrinks to a corner chip. Signature visual: "The Workshop Floor" — a treemap of every operative's top artifact sized by pulls, with hatched empty tiles for single-axis lurkers. portfolio-ladder artifact-treemap 10 Season & Museum Diablo RuneScape Two halves, no fight: a hot magenta SEASON ribbon with a 23-day countdown and a dopamine podium on top; a calm green MUSEUM hiscores table with member-since dates and a comp-cape gallery below. two-halves podium-and-ledger 11 Four Horizons Diablo WoW Four time-horizon cards left-to-right, each with its own rarity/class accent. SEASON gets widened (Adrián's "the leaderboard is the game") with momentum lanes — 18 sparklines colored by WoW class with a day-67 cursor. time-horizon-cards momentum-lanes 12 Loot Conveyor Diablo Satisfactory Every entry is a loot card; artifact name leads, operative credit beneath, item-level derived from score, affixes for streak / writings / pulls. Signature visual: an animated factory conveyor with today's drops sliding past beam-lit pickups. loot-cards conveyor-belt item-level 13 Two Medals RuneScape WoW Two equal medals at the top: a green Comp Cape ribbon (Hannah — time-earned, permanent) and a magenta CUTTING-EDGE S4 medallion (Adrián — re-earnable each season). Neither subordinated. Both adjudicate the ladders below. dual-medal breadth-vs-form 14 Garden Journal RuneScape Satisfactory The quietest design in the series. Linen-paper dark, EB Garamond serif italic, muted moss/lichen/amber. No countdown, no glow, no glitch. Signature visual: a stratigraphic cross-section of the population by join-quarter, founders to today. serif-italic strata-chart deliberate-pace 15 Builds, Not Builders WoW Satisfactory The ranking subject moves from operatives to artifacts. Each row is a *build*, the operative is a credit line, each build wears a class-icon role. CUTTING-EDGE is awarded to a build, not a person. Signature visual: a Build Constellation phase diagram of pulls × writings. artifacts-rank build-constellation

// designs 16–20 — three or five designers in the room at once

16 Three Readings of a Level PoE Diablo RuneScape Signature visual is a triptych pinned to the viewer's current tier: PoE currency cost to next, Diablo paragon orbit, RuneScape XP-table dates. Same tier, three readings. Four ladders below, each labeled by which lens it serves. triptych tier-orbit xp-dates 17 Dossier Table PoE WoW RuneScape The inspector trinity. A massive sortable spreadsheet with three grouped column blocks per row: BUILD (PoE — ext bars, top pull), PARSE (WoW — four percentile tracks), AGE (RuneScape — memberSince, activeDays, streak). The table IS the signature. spreadsheet-as-art grouped-columns sortable 18 Loot Ladder vs. The Factory Diablo WoW Satisfactory The contradiction is the page. SEASON ladder as Diablo loot cards with WoW class roles in the center. A sticky left margin of typewriter-tape Lina notes interrupting: "stop ranking the prize." A taped corner memo: "the factory is *not* a race." argument-on-page typewriter-margin 19 Factory Gallery Diablo RuneScape Satisfactory A ledger of artifacts shipped. Loot-card tiles (Diablo) ride a years-stamped ledger (RuneScape) in a calm artifact gallery (Satisfactory). Comp cape as a literal woven banner with five threads. Signature visual: the 90-day Season Production Strip. factory-gallery woven-cape production-strip 20 The Roundtable Transcript PoE Diablo RuneScape WoW Satisfactory The disagreement itself. Five nameplates lens-switch the whole page. Signature visual: a slope chart showing 8 operatives' rank under five different criteria. Every window has a margin gutter of five typewriter verdicts. No verdict — a roundtable. lens-switcher slope-chart five-voices
Brief Every design uses the same canonical dataset (_DATA.md) and answers the same brief (_BRIEF.md). Each one surfaces all four windows on the same 1,248-operative population, and each one is answerable to a different subset of the five game designers in static/game-designers/. Compare like-for-like: which one feels most like a verdict you want to defend? Which one would you actually want to land on at /leaderboard? Which signature visual earns its weight?
